Note that the two valves on the unit that drip water must not be discharged onto a pathway. It helps if a drainage grate is close by to discharge the water to it.

In the situation where there is no drainage close by it can be discharged into the garden but as far away from the buildings foundations as possible. keeping the area wet close to the building’s foundation can attract termites or even cause subsidence in the footings.

Valves On Electric Hot Water Systems

The sole purpose of this valve is to Protect the Hot water system from overpressure. this can occur when the main water supply has high pressure or a possible surge at night when water usage drops in your community.

I think most know of the Pressure relief valve, it can be for some a pastime to walk past the hws and pull the lever. This valve is for safety and is one of the most important. The PRV will release hot water when the water in the tank becomes too hot or there is too much pressure in the tank.

They certainly won’t last the life of two tanks, meaning that you will be up for an extra service charge to have them replaced later.
